MC3

Product presentation
The MC3 total knee prosthesis, a posterior-stabilised implant with rotating bearing, was developed following the design and characteristics of the MC2 implant, for difficult first line cases and revision.

Details

  • Its high stress level ensures optimal frontal and sagittal stability.
  • Roll-back induced by the posterior-stabilised cam and identical to the MC2 implant reproduces the physiological movement of the femur in relation to the tibia.
  • The posterior and distal tibial and femoral hemiwedges make up for loss of bone substance.
  • Fixation and stability are improved using a range of keels of which the axis can be offset using an intermediate part.
  • The components from the MC3 and MC2 ranges can be mixed and matched.
Femoral component
  • Manufactured using the same cobalt chromium honing and polishing process as the MC2 component.
  • Comes in 5 right and left sizes, cemented.
  • With a large range of extension keels, in 4 diameters and 3 lengths, assembled using a morse taper and screw.
  • Posterior and distal hemiwedges available in 2 thicknesses for screw-fitting to the femoral component.
Mobile bearing
  • Made of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and vacuum-packed.
  • Available in 5 sizes and 6 thicknesses.
  • The profile of the contact surfaces ensures stability and high congruence during walking.
  • Its size ensures ample rotation without overlapping of the tibial tray.
  • The rotation rivet, of the same design and therefore with the same stability characteristics of that of the MC2 range, can also be used with the trays from the MC2 range.
The size of the bearing must be identical to that of the femoral component.

Tibial tray
  • Made of the same material (cobalt chromium) and produced from the same manufacturing process as the tray in the MC2 range.
  • Comes in 5 sizes, cemented; the conical keel base, with two fins, is finished with a morse taper, to accommodate an extension keel mounted with a screw.
  • Designed to fit the tibial cut without having to use a right or left component.
  • An intermediate part can be used to offset the keel axis from that of the tray.
  • Internal and external hemiwedges available in two thicknesses, screw-fitted to the tray.
Patella component
  • The patella component is the same as that in the MC2 range.
  • Made of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and vacuum-packed.
  • Comes in 5 sizes, cemented.
  • Its part-sphere design cut according to an oval contour enables better adjustment to the edge of the patella section.
  • Comes with two sealing rivets.
Instruments

The same instruments can be used where :
- Correct bone markings are available (1st intention)
- The medullary cavities are the only reliable markings (revision).
